The annual scramble to locate and put together the perfect Halloween costume is quickly creeping up, and with just weeks until the spookiest day on the calendar – Saturday 31 October – Gold Coasters are starting to think beyond the costume itself, seeking out accessories, decorations, DIY craft, face paint, fake blood and all the extras that have become part of the occasion. The Pines Elanora has Halloween 2026 well and truly covered, with oh-so-cute, creepy and even inflatable costumes for toddlers, kids, teens and adults, as well as decorations for the house, lollies and treats for the doorbell bowl, and a few options for four-legged family members.

Halloween Costumes for Toddlers, Kids, Teens and Adults: From Tiny Pumpkins to Inflatable Dinosaurs

If you’re planning on going all out this year in the Halloween costume department, hotfoot it to Kmart and What’s Cheap at The Pines Elanora, both stocking a seriously extensive line-up of costumes for little ones through to grown-ups. For infants and toddlers, Kmart has the Halloween classics covered, from pumpkins to skeletons and toddler bats, alongside princesses, vampires, black cats and ballerinas for older kids – all $20 and under.

If your child has already done their Halloween homework and decided precisely what or who they want to be, there are plenty of themed character costumes on offer too – think werewolves, dark kings and demon ninjas, a cheerleader complete with socks and pom poms, plus K-Pop Demon Hunters (Rumi! Zoey!), Pokémon (Eevee and Pikachu!) and speedy Sonic costumes.

What’s Cheap has its own line-up of Halloween favourites too, from bats and devils to unicorns and pirates with the all-important swords, hooks, hats and eyepatches to finish the look. Teen and adult costumes are in the mix too, so no one has an excuse to sit out this year.

And for a Halloween costume that’s hard to miss on the trick-or-treat run, Kmart’s inflatable range takes things up a notch, with a ride-on horse and pug for kids, alongside adult options including an alien, dinosaur, Buzz Lightyear and Grogu – because why should the youngsters have all the fun?!

Halloween Accessories: Fangs, Face Paint and Fake Blood

Perhaps last year’s Halloween costume needs a little revamp, or you’re looking to add some finishing touches to the kids’ outfits without spending more than a few dollars – there’s plenty of scope to pull together an impressive Halloween look with a few well-chosen extras from The Pines Elanora. Kmart’s Halloween accessories start at just $1 for spooky masks, witches hats for $2, scary bunny masks for $5 and adult black capes for $6, alongside broomsticks, wand and headband sets, and coloured wigs from $5.

There’s also plenty of opportunity to get creative with Halloween makeup, with $5 face paint sets, $3 blood face tattoo sets, vampire and zombie lip kits, and Halloween-themed adhesive stiletto nails and face gems stocked at Kmart, too.

Then there’s the all-important fake blood, which has quite literally vanished from shelves in previous years due to overwhelming popularity. It’s currently available in a variety of forms at What’s Cheap, from spray and gel to syringes and fangs with fake blood detail. With aisles dedicated entirely to Halloween, What’s Cheap also stocks everything from vampire teeth to spooky hair clips and accessories, plus a wall of headbands and masks ranging from witches and devil horns to Day of the Dead styles.

For a more witchy take on the Halloween look, Luna Lovewitch offers crystals, crystal jewellery and pendants, coffin nails and magical pieces to wear, plus spell supplies and witchy treasures that make great keepsakes long after October.

Fill the Bucket and the Bowl: Where to Stock Up On Halloween Loot and Lollies

Let’s face it, aside from dressing up in your spectacularly spooky best, enjoying your (or your child’s!) sweets haul at the end of the trick-or-treating festivities comes in a close second. Woolworths, Coles and Aldi at The Pines Elanora make it easy to stock up on lollies, chocolate and other Halloween goodies ahead of the big day on 31 October, whether you’re filling the trick-or-treat bucket or preparing for a steady stream of young visitors at home.

Woolworths has its own Halloween spooky party mix, alongside favourites including mega snakes, sour squirms and fruity chews, while Coles has a dedicated Halloween range spanning lollies, fun-size chocolate bars, and mini cookie and cracker bags, perfect for popping in the Halloween spread. And for those who prefer to make a little more of the occasion, Woolworths, Coles and Aldi have plenty of inspiration for turning the sweet stuff into part of the celebrations, from spooky baking to themed treats (cobweb cookies, anyone?).

Hot tip: buy more than you think you need… better to have extra than run out when the doorbell inevitably rings!

Halloween Decorations and Craft: Give the House a Halloween Makeover

For Gold Coasters who like to dive into the Halloween preparations and really deck the house out, Kmart has plenty of inexpensive craft supplies to keep little hands busy, including Halloween stickers, craft foil and tulle, googly eyes, DIY paper garlands and air-dry clay Halloween craft kits, all under $5.

When it comes to giving the house a proper Halloween makeover, What’s Cheap has shelves filled with spider webbing, decorative black gauze, flocked spiders, hanging skeletons, foil eyeball balloons and Halloween-themed tablecloths. You might just get voted best house on the street!

And if hanging spiders aren’t quite your decor style, Luna Lovewitch takes the Halloween mood in a more magical direction, with Halloween-themed ceramic homewares, pumpkin spice-scented and spell-inspired candles, crystals and mystical pieces.

One More Reason to Head to The Pines Elanora: Free Trick or Treat Trail

And if all this talk of costumes has the kids itching to put theirs to good use, there’s a pretty good excuse to get them dressed up a little early this year. The Pines Elanora is hosting a FREE Trick or Treat Trail on Saturday 31 October from 11am – 1pm, with young witches, vampires, Pokémon, werewolves, princesses (or whatever Halloween costume they’ve settled on!) invited to follow a spooky trail around the centre. Children can find the hidden letters, crack the secret code word and then head to the finish to collect a special Halloween treat.

The details: Saturday 31 October, 11am-1pm at The Pines Elanora

The event is free, but bookings are essential, with places limited to 200 participants. The trail is suitable for children aged three and over, and costumes are highly encouraged, so consider this the perfect opportunity to get a little extra wear out of this year’s Halloween costume creation!
